Investors in Pupils

 Why Invest in Pupils

The award recognises the achievements of the whole school, class groups and individual pupils in five key areas: - learning, behaviour, attendance, classroom management and induction. We are currently working towards this award in school.  It provides children with opportunities to take responsibility for their own education and behaviour whilst appreciating the resources in school which aid them. Most of this work is done as part of the PSHCE lesson and Circle Time. It allows children to discuss, debate, and formulate mission statements, class targets, individual targets, and class handbook. It also helps children to understand the roles which everyone plays in a school.
Class targets and individual targets are smart targets.

A Class Mission Statement

 School Council
Each class elects two members for the school council and they meet quite regularly .Council members have been involved in a number of important issues such as improving the school dining room facilities and revising the dining menu and sitting rota. They have organised fundraising events and school discos.

Supporting Staff
Through investors in Pupils children are now more aware of the role adults play in their learning, the education they have received, their job description and the financial implications on the school.

 Lunch Time

Lunch time organisers each have a class which they are responsible for. The children and the LTO work together to achieve rewards. Children gain access to the lunch time clubs for good behaviour. Lunch time organisers win a bunch of flowers every Friday if their class has displayed the best behaviour. The winning class receives a free playtime!

Lunch time clubs
Through investors in Pupils and the school council our children told us that they needed more things to do at lunchtimes. We now have 2-3 clubs running daily. The LTO also organise games e.g. skipping, cricket and rounders.

 Attendance
Every week the class attendance percentage is read out in assembly and displayed in the classroom. There is a special trophy and certificate for the class which has the highest attendance figure. Children win prizes for 100% attendance over the three terms and the year.
